Across Europe, 80,000 people suffer from the effects of fine particle air pollution every year, 16,000 in the UK alone. As awareness of the issue increases, controlling PM10 particle emissions has become a much higher priority for operators and buyers of plant that operates in urban areas in order to protect the health of the local population.

Traditional vacuum street sweepers emit approximately 1kg of PM10 particle matter every hour that they work. The emission is usually visible above and around the sweeper body and creates and serious long term health hazard, especially for the sweeper driver who is closely and constantly exposed to it.
